I am asking you to step up and take the lead in your home, ministry and the marketplace. God’s called you to reflect His glory and manifest His love in all of those areas. I’m particularly burdened that you would begin to disciple and coach individuals and groups in any and all of these areas using biblical principles of coaching (relational high touch) and biblical principles of living (life skills).
One of the greatest sociological ills of our day is the passive male. It is as apparent in the church and Christian families as it is in the world. As I have traveled around the world, my friends tell me there is hesitancy on the part of the men with whom they work to step up to leadership. In fact, people are reluctant to even use the word leadership. But, it’s time that this attitude changes, and the change must begin in the church.
Friends, as Edmund Burke said, “All that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” Let’s do something beginning with taking the lead. We men must lead as fathers, husbands, and friends and this means being engaged in leadership in our homes, ministries and the marketplace.
I want to challenge you to study, apply and then begin to reproduce the 10 principles of leadership that Paul, Timothy and Silvanus modeled for us in 1 Thessalonians 2:7-13. I believe this is truly the best framework for leadership in any literature today.
I’m sure you’ve surmised that this framework is as thoroughly applicable to women as it is to men. I am a big believer in women providing godly and appropriate direction (as so many have) in the home, ministry world and marketplace. Yet I believe our bigger problem today is with men simply not stepping up to be the leaders they were meant to be.
So guys…this challenge is aimed at you and me!
