Did you realize that the greatest sermon of all time—the Sermon on the Mount—was given to only a small group of leaders? Jesus, with a massive crowd before him eager to hear his every word, chose instead to pull away from the crowd and deliver this life-transforming message to a select group of people, including the twelve disciples, up on the mountain. Why?
Could it be that this was indicative of his whole strategy—minister to many but focus on a few? We believe the answer is a resounding yes. Jesus chose a strategy of spiritual multiplication to reach the world by discipling and coaching a few followers, then equipping and empowering them to disciple and coach others, in order to “obey all things that God had commanded.”
